Hola! There is more to Mexico than great beaches and resorts! Mexico City is a cultural hub full of architecture, excitement, history and great food.
A very economic place to visit, that often gets a bad reputation by Americans who have actually never visited themselves. Mexico City is huge, but you can enjoy a lot of what it has to offer in 3-4 days with no problem.
On Sunday mornings you can bike down Paseo de la Reforma, which is a main thoroughfare. You’ll pass the Angel of Independence tower and bike along Bosque de Chapultepec, which is a huge park that has a zoo, museums, and many other sights. In the park you can walk up to Chapultepec Castle to get a panoramic view of the entire city from this lavish and ornate castle.
If you’re hungry, or thirsty, visit the neighborhoods of Roma, and La Condesa for some authentic Cuidad de Mexico cuisine. Go to the city center to take in city atop the Torre Latinoamericana, visit la Palacio de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts) and then relax with a picnic in Alameda Central park.
Mexico City is far from the beach, in fact it’s elevation is higher than Denver. So be prepared for a trip different to all of those beach pictures you’ve seen of Mexico. Nonetheless, I highly recommend visiting Cuidad de Mexico. Adios!
