24 Hours in Amsterdam (Amsterdam, Netherlands)

Amsterdam for 24 hours…what a whirlwind!

Celebratory beers, IAMsterdam sign, Riksmuseum, a jog through Vondelpark, shopping at the Bloemenmarkt, a bike tour, the Anne Frank House, the Red Light District, lots of canals, leaning houses, more beer, Koninklijk Palace, more bikes, and finally a beer at Schiphol Airport to our flight to Berlin…whew!

I don’t recommend trying to pack all of this into one day but unfortunately that is all we had time for. Amsterdam is best done over several days. Spread it out, enjoy this one of a kind city. I’ll be back for sure!

A few things to think about while you’re in Amsterdam. First, this city is unlike any other! It is winding, colorful, full of canals, culture and history. Second, there is way more to Amsterdam than the Red Light District and “coffee shops”. Third, I do recommend taking a bike tour because you can see so much of the city in such a short period of time - it is very compact but can be confusing for a first timer. Being on a bike lets you breathe in the city and immerse yourself in the one-of-a-kind magic that is Amsterdam. Lastly, stay away from the “cookie-cutter” sites that can suck a lot of your time like the Heineken Tour. I’ve heard great things about it but it can last hours and if you’re pressed for time you can spend your hours doing a lot of other great things.

Tot ziens,

Global Greever
